Vibram ACL Ticket Giveaway
The Austin City Limits Music Festival brings music lovers from across the country to Zilker Park for two weekends of stellar performances by their favorite singers and bands. Music lovers aren’t the only ones who travel to Austin for ACL. Companies come to town for the Festival too. In 2018, Whole Earth is partnering with Vibram who’ll be adding their own special touch to the festivities with a drawing for two pairs of ACL tickets and an Austin visit for their Sole Factor mobile cobbler shop.
Vibram is generously providing two pairs of three day passes for the second weekend of ACL, October 12th – 14th. You can enter by trying on a pair of Vibram’s Furoshiki or FiveFinger shoes at either of our Austin stores between September 17th and October 7th. When you try on a pair, you’ll receive an entry blank for the drawing. To enter, you need to be 18 or older; you cannot have won a prize from Whole Earth in the past six months; entries are limited to one entry per person per store, and the winners will need to pick up their tickets at our North Lamar store on October 9th. The winners will be notified on October 8th.
Vibram was founded by Vitale Bramani who is credited with inventing the first rubber lug soles for climbing boots. At the time, these boots had leather soles fitted with hobnails or steel cleats. Having lost six friends in a hiking accident in the Italian Alps, he was determined to make a better boot for mountaineering. In the late 1930s, Bramani created a rubber lug sole he called the Carrarmato, the tank tread, which greatly improved traction and was strong enough to withstand the abuse of sharp rocks and other climbing menaces.
Today, Vibram soles are found on quality outdoor shoes made by many top brands. Vibram also designs shoes and is best known as a leader in minimalist footwear. The FiveFinger and the Furoshiki have lightweight soles that are thick enough to absorb the impact of hard surfaces and offer a good grip, while still providing a “barefoot” feel. The FiveFinger running shoe has been a favorite of “barefoot” runners since 2005. The Furoshiki is a recent creation, introduced in 2015. Inspired by Japanese wrapping cloths, the Furoshiki wraps around the foot for a comfortable fit no matter the foot’s shape or proportions.
