Patagonia's Worn Wear Tour is Coming to Austin!

Our long-time customers may remember back in 2016 when Whole Earth had the pleasure of hosting the Patagonia Worn Wear Wagon in Austin. While the Wagon won't be making a return visit, members of the ace Patagonia repair team will be in our Austin store at 1014 North Lamar on the Solstice, June 21st from 11am to 4pm.

You can RSVP to Patagonia if you would like. This is a drop-in event where you can give a piece of your worn outdoor clothing some TLC with free repairs on rips, tears and pulls. If your repair needs more work than the team can do on site, it will be possible to have it sent to the Patagonia repair workshop. Please plan ahead so there will be time for the team to make repairs before the end of the event.

The first thing to remember is please be sure that the item is clean before bringing it in on the day of the event. And secondly, the good folks at Patagonia will also do repairs on non-Patagonia outdoor clothing! However, if your non-Patagonia item needs more repair than the on-site team can do, the item will not qualify to be sent to Worn Wear headquarters in Utah for further repairs. And please remember, one item per person.

To help you pass the time, Whole Earth will have a few events in store. From noon to 12:30pm and 2:30 to 3:00pm Chi-Wei Chang will present "Bringing Nature Inside During the Heat " You may know Chi-Wei from her Nature Immersion & Mental Health Workshops at Hill Country Conservancy's Nalle Bunny Run Wildlife Preserve. We learned so much and are looking forward to Chi-Wei's suggestions for bringing nature inside.

And speaking of Hill Country Conservancy, they too will be joining us. Patagonia and Whole Earth have donated prizes for a raffle benefiting the group. Prizes include Patagonia items like a backpack, duffel or luggage, fanny packs, repair kits plus Whole Earth swag bags that include a $25 Whole Earth gift card. Hill Country Conservancy will be selling tickets with drawings held throughout the event.

You may know Hill Country Conservancy best as the group that spearheaded the creation of the Violet Crown Trail. HCC was formed in 1999 to preserve – forever – large strategic tracts of open space that conserve critical water features, preserve outdoor recreation opportunities, and help maintain the Hill Country’s unique quality of life in the Barton Springs Aquifer region. They currently manage 14,500 acres of conservation easements. We think Hill Country Conservancy and Patagonia are great partners sharing their devotion to protecting wild lands in Texas and throughout our country.

For years, Patagonia has been an advocate for the principles of reduce, repair, reuse and recycle. They've made it easy for those of us who wear Patagonia clothing to live up to this ideal. Patagonia's quality clothing lasts and reduces the need to purchase something new. Patagonia also offers free repairs on many items as well as offering instructions for simple repairs on their website. It's also possible to return wearable Patagonia items for credit to the company where they will be refurbished and resold as part of the Patagonia Worn Wear program. If a piece is beyond repair, it can be donated for recycling.

We're very excited about the Worn Wear Tour stopping at our Austin North Lamar store and hope you'll drop by with a favorite piece of outdoor clothing that may need some TLC. See you there!
