KUHL - Technical Clothes for Work and Play
KUHL was born in the mountains of Utah. In 1982, Kevin Boyle headed west to pursue the life of a ski bum. And now, almost 40 years later, he's known as the founder and guiding spirit of KUHL, maker of technical sportswear for outdoor and everyday living.
After early run-ins with employers, Boyle realized that he would do better working for himself. His first venture into outdoor clothing was Alfwear, a ski hat business based on a Peruvian-inspired design updated with polar fleece. His partners included the designer John "Alf" Engwall, mountaineer Conrad Anker, and his brother Jay Boyle. In 1989, Kevin Boyle took on the business solo, expanded the product line, and changed the company name to KUHL. In 1990, he introduced his first design, a fleece jacket that featured an innovative thumb-loop cuff system and lightweight underarm gussets.
For the past 30 years, KÜHL has focused on making technical sportswear. Their clothing is thoughtfully designed using body mechanics to study how the body moves and creating clothing that moves with it rather than hindering motion. They use quality materials and sewing techniques that make their clothes last longer. And they focus on fit so that KUHL looks good and performs, whether on the trail or out and about town.
Our customers have been wearing KUHL for many years. Pants are a particular favorite. They often feature articulated knees, long gussets, lots of reinforced pockets and quick-drying fabrics. KUHL pants are often preferred by those whose jobs keep them on the move throughout the day. The pants are constructed with give in all the right places and their durability means that they'll look good for longer than the usual pair of work or trail pants. KUHL has lots of styles to choose from. For men there are pants that look like they spend every day in an office like the Kuhl Resistor Chino Lite to pants that are ready for the worksite or the trail like the Decptr. And for women, there is also a range of styles including the Trekr, the Kontour Flex Denim Straight Jean and the Kultivatr Kargo Crop Pants.
KUHL Men's Radikl Pants
Here's a pair of pants that can go from the workplace to the trail and back again. Made of a tough blend of cotton and nylon with a touch of spandex, they offer superior anti-abrasion and UPF 50+ sun protection. The Radikl also has strategically placed knit panels made of nylon and spandex below the knees, at the waist, back yoke and gusset for added flexibility and comfort. The waist follows the natural rise of the hips, and there are seven pockets, some secure, for lots of storage.
KUHL Women's Trekr Pants
The KUHL Women's Trekr Pants are versatile, stylish and comfortable. They're hiking pants that can go to the office or out and about. Made of a soft brushed-face blend of polyester and nylon that's bluesign certified, these pants have stretch and rebound and won't lose their shape. Using a side seam cinch, the Trekr can be transformed into Capris for a stylish option or for crossing streams. There are two snap back pockets and two hidden thigh zippered pockets. And for a custom fit, there's an internal waist drawcord.
KUHL Women's Weekendr Tights
If you love tights but you're looking for something more technical for the trail, consider the KUHL Women's Weekendr Tights. They're women's hiking pants made of stretch fabrics for freedom of movement and durability. The Weekendr uses three separate bluesign certified fabrics in various combinations of nylon, polyester and spandex to create a lightweight pant with stretch and a comfortable brushed face. These pants also have a durable water repellent finish and four pockets! Take the Weekendr on the trail, sightseeing, walking the dog, or for everyday wear. They may be your new favorite go-to pants.
Kuhl Men's Kommando Crew Shirt
When cool weather blows in, it's time for long sleeves and pullovers! Despite its tough name, the Kuhl Men's Kommando Crew Shirt is a softie, made of 100% organic peached cotton. This long sleeve crew has flatlock seams for added comfort with triple needle top stitching for added style, strength and reduced bulk. It's a mid-weight crew with thumb loops and a stash pocket on the upper left sleeve. This versatile shirt was made for the trail, for work, and for spending time at home or out with friends. On colder days, add a layer with a vest or jacket.
KUHL Women's Tess Flannel Long Sleeve Shirt
Fall is flannel season. Its softness and warmth make flannel shirts perennial favorites. The Tess Flannel Long Sleeve Shirt is set apart by its lovely bold plaid, design details, and a soft cotton/tencel blend fabric. This plaid shirt has contrasting interior corduroy details at the collar, cuffs and side seams. It's a snap front shirt that works well for layering, either over a long sleeve tee or tank or under a sweater, vest or jacket. Slip into fall with the comfort of flannel!
KUHL Men's Burr Vest
A vest is one of our favorites for fall and winter layering. Vests keep the core warm while providing freedom of movement for the arms. And then there are the extra pockets! KUHL's men's Burr Vest is made of 100% combed cotton canvas woven in a durable Ottoman rib pattern and sewn with saddle stitching for low bulk seams. The vest has a standup collar, zippered hand pockets and an internal security pocket. The Burr Vest will help keep you warm on the trail or on the job. Quality materials and sewing techniques will have this vest in rotation for years to come.
These are just a few of the items from KUHL you'll find in our stores and online. If you're looking for technical sportswear for outdoor and everyday living that's well-made and with a touch of style, we think you'll like KUHL.
