Three kids playing in a riverWhole Earthlings Shannon and Heather are back to present Camping 101. Both are camping veterans with years of experience. They’ve camped solo, with friends and family, including dogs, in all kinds of weather and in far flung locations across the country. Together they’ll will share their knowledge to help you get ready for your first camping trip or make your next one even better.

First up will be questions to ask yourself. They’ll help you focus your expectations and determine what you may need to pack. Do you want to go camping to get away from it all? To return to nature? To hike? To explore? To have fun with your family or friends? To be quiet and listen to the birds or the sound of a rocky river? Some of the above or something else altogether? Having the answers to these and other questions will help you better plan your camping adventure.

Next are some essential items and knowledge to help make your camping trip more comfortable and safe. The biggies are shelter, light, food and water, sleeping arrangements, safety, first aid, fire, and dealing with bugs and predators. What’s the right size tent for your trip? A two, three or four person? More? What sort of light sources will you need? Flashlights, lantern, headlamps? What food should you bring and how much cooking should you plan for? What about water and how to store it? What’s the best sleeping bag for cold weather and the most comfortable sleeping pad? What are potential hazards and how to deal them? What’s in your first aid kit? Is fire even allowed? And how do you keep the bugs and critters at bay?

The importance of taking time to rest and staying hydrated. Entertainment. Soothing the less than enthusiastic camper, and much more. The Earthlings will show you how to use essential gear, and there’ll be time for Q & A.

We love to camp and want to help you get started or share a few tips for your next trip. We hope you’ll join us for our Camping 101 webinar. Spaces for the event are limited, so please don’t wait to register!
