Sean is ready to camp at the drop of hat, even in snow at Yellowstone. Shannon enjoys camping and hiking in the mountains, preferably Colorado. And Heather is an all-terrain camper who’s also on the lookout for rock climbing opportunities. Together these three Earthlings will share their knowledge to help you get ready for your first car camping trip or make your next one even better.

Despite the sound of it, car camping does not mean sleeping in a car. Consider your car as a pack animal that gets you to the campsite with all your gear and supplies. And after you set up camp, the car’s a bit like a storage closet with wheels. You can stow items you won’t need every day or items you’d like to keep locked up when they’re not in use.

The first item on the webinar agenda will be questions to ask yourself. They’ll help you focus your expectations and determine what you may need to pack. Do you want to go camping to get away from it all? To return to nature? To hike? To explore? To have fun with your family or friends? To be quiet and listen to the birds or the sound of a rocky river? Some of the above or something else altogether? Having the answers to these and other questions will help you better plan your camping adventure.

Shelter, light, food and water, sleeping arrangements, safety, first aid, fire, and dealing with bugs and predators. What’s the right size tent for your trip? A two, three or four person? More? What sort of light sources will you need? Flashlights, lantern, headlamps? What food should you bring and how much cooking should you plan for? What about water and how to store it? What’s the best sleeping bag for warm weather and the most comfortable sleeping pad? What are potential hazards and how to deal them? What’s in your first aid kit? Is fire even allowed? And how do you keep the bugs and critters at bay?

Other topics include creating an itinerary. Tips for enjoying the day. The importance of taking time to rest and staying hydrated. Entertainment. Soothing the less than enthusiastic camper, and much more. The Earthlings will show you how to use essential gear, and there’ll be time for Q & A.

We love to camp and want to help you get started or share a few tips for use on your next trip. We hope you’ll join us for our first webinar, Intro to Car Camping. Spaces for the event are limited, so please don’t wait to register!
