Jellycat for Spring in Store Now!

Jellycat alert! Our stores have just received a new spring selection of bunnies, lambs, and ducklings perfect for Easter baskets. But don't wait until a time closer to the holiday to visit them. Jellycat creations are popular with both children and collectors and are adopted very quickly. You'll find them in our stores and online. Let us introduce you to a few of the new arrivals!

Dorit Duckling looks out at the world with curiosity and acceptance. He's ready for tea parties, heart-to-heart revelations, and travel. He may be distantly related to Einstein (look at that wild topknot) so he would surely appreciate having stories of all kinds read to him like a classic The Story of Ping, as well as science and natural history. His sunny yellow color is sure to brighten a special someone's day.

Horticus Hare would be an unusual addition to a plush animal family. Hares are often overlooked in favor of their more numerous relatives the rabbit. It is our belief that Horticus comes from a scholarly family, hence his Latin name 'Garden.' Like all gardeners, Horticus is patient and willing to put in the necessary time to make a relationship or a garden flourish. He enjoys his time outdoors and thinks that The Secret Garden would be an excellent bedtime read.

Smudge Lamb is a new creature and just learning how her legs work. Hence, Smudge is often prone. But the lamb can sit up and take notice. Being so new herself, she is attracted to the very young, Smudge is easy to hold and carry and is ready to share in all kinds of adventures. She is partial to Mother Goose at bedtime especially the rhyme "Mary Had a Little Lamb." However, she does not approve of Mary's lamb being turned away from school. She believes in education for all!

Blossom Blush Bunny also known as 'Cherry' is a member of the large Blossom Bunny family. Cherry is a lover of all things Japanese, especially the Sakura Cherry Blossom Festival. She's ready for picnicking among the blooming trees with her cherry blossom patterned ears and feet and soft gentle blush fur. As you can imagine, Cherry loves to travel, but enjoys her time closer to home with her family. At bedtime, she loves poetry of all kinds but especially Haiku!

Bashful Carrot Bunny also comes from a very large family that includes many other creatures besides rabbits. He is distinguished by the large carrot he is holding gently in his paws. He enjoys sharing his insights with a special friend and loves carrots but has not followed in the steps of Peter Rabbit. He learned a lot from Peter's tale and as a result has other sources for his favorite vegetable. If you were to read him a bedtime story, he prefers other Beatrix Potter tales like The Tailor of Gloucester.

Like so many things that make us laugh, Jellycat hails from across the Pond. While their humor is kinder and gentler than say, Monty Python, a Jellycat creation can win you over in a single glance. Their plush animals and other assorted offerings including plants, food and celestial objects are made with very soft materials that make small hands reach out to hug. They are also made to delight an older crowd who just can't believe that someone has created a plush Bowl of Ramen or a Storm Cloud.

And what about the name? What does Jellycat even mean? The name was invented by a child who loved cats and jellies and thought the two favorite things belonged together. If you look carefully at the Jellycat logo, you'll see an engaging black and white cat named Jack who appears to be wearing a golden crown. It's not. It's a jelly or molded gelatin dessert! Hence, Jellycat.

Jellycat plush toys are highly collectible. The designers are always working on new additions to the line and so find it best to retire creations so as not to be overrun with plush.
