Film Night at Our San Antonio Store!
Whole Earth Provision Co. and Patagonia are joining forces to bring you a very special evening of films and discussion. Please join us on Saturday, February 4th at our Whole Earth store in San Antonio from 6:30 to 8:30. The films to be shown are A Northern Light and Slim Pickins. This is a free event with a $5 suggested donation benefitting Black Outside, a 501(c)3 nonprofit. You can save your seat here!
A Northern Light features Patagonia Fly Fishing Ambassador Nathaniel Riverhorse Nakadate as he paddles, fishes, and explores the beauty of the Boundary Waters Wilderness Area in Northern Minnesota. It's the third installment of Patagonia's ongoing "It's All Home Water" series and focuses on the irreplaceable beauty of the Boundary Waters, now under threat from a toxic, sulfide-ore copper mine planned dangerously close to the park's border.
The second film, Slim Pickins, is the story of Slim Pickins Outfitters, the nation's first Black-owned outdoor gear shop and its owners Jahmicah and Heather Dawes. The pandemic had a terrible impact on the store. This film helped to raise $172,000 to keep the store open through a GoFundMe campaign. Dawes is an avid hiker and dedicated to connecting Slim Pickins to the culture and community of Stephenville, Texas and to the great outdoors.
The films will be followed by a discussion between Nathaniel Riverhorse Nakadate, Jamicah Dawes, and Alex Bailey of Black Outside, a San Antonio-based nonprofit that connects Black youths to nature programs. Light refreshments will be served.
Our San Antonio Whole Earth store is located at the Quarry Market, 255 E. Basse Rd. Please reserve your seat today on Eventbrite. We look forward to seeing you at this very special event.
