A Fresh Start for a Singular Year
The end of summer is in sight, unless you live in Texas where we’ll be facing summer’s heat until at least the middle of October. The calendar says that Labor Day will be here before we know it, and school will be back in session. The big question is where? Will students be learning from home or returning to their classrooms? The uncertainty around this question is causing more than a few sleepless nights for parents, teachers and students.
In past years, back-to-school meant new clothes, shoes and a daypack filled with school supplies. There would be a new teacher, classmates, a new classroom and perhaps even a new school. This year will be different for many students. The teacher may be new but the classroom is the kitchen table and classmates an interactive version of Hollywood Squares.
While every day seems much the same as the day before, there’s at least one thing that has changed over the past months – our kids, thankfully, are continuing to grow. The summer growth spurt can leave them with clothes that are too short or too small and shoes that are tight and uncomfortable. Even if our kids’ return to the classroom has been postponed, some new comfortable clothing and shoes can help keep fidgeting and complaints at bay.
This year’s school clothes are simple – shorts, t-shirts and shoes that can perform in the backyard and later on the playground. Quality counts when choosing clothing and shoes for kids. At Whole Earth, we’re on the lookout for materials and construction techniques that can take the extra wear and tear that active kids can inflict. Quality means comfort, freedom of movement, and the possibility of being passed on to younger siblings.
If you’re taking college classes from home, you too want to be comfortable so you can focus on your work and also make a good impression online. Whole Earth has clothing that combines comfort and good looks, is well-made, and ready to play or get back to the books as your schedule requires. You’ll find shorts, shirts, skirts and pants from some of your favorite brands that are relaxed and stylish.
Another sign of the beginning of school is a new daypack. If last year’s pack is worn out or has problem zippers, it may be time to replace it with something new. We have daypacks in varying sizes and interior configurations ready to carry all the essential items you’ll need. We also have kid-size daypacks scaled to protect their backs from misplaced and unbalanced weight. Why a daypack now if they’re not traveling back and forth to school? When the online school day is over, school materials can be stowed in the pack out of the way of family life and easily found for use the next day.
New clothes, new shoes, a new daypack, lunch box and water bottle are just a few of the items on a traditional back-to-school shopping list. While this school year looks to be anything but traditional, let’s make a fresh start with some comfortable clothing, shoes and other items to celebrate the beginning of a singular year.
