A Day on the Water Webinar
Join us for A Day on the Water Webinar with Kimberly Sorenson of Texas Parks & Wildlife, hosted by Whole Earth's Heather Watson and Rani Loyal. The event will be on July 27th from 6 to 7:15 pm. You can register at Eventbrite. Before the event, you'll receive an email with a zoom link to attend. There will also be a drawing for prizes for two lucky attendees!
The webinar will look at many ways to have fun on the water swimming, fishing and kayaking. Sorenson will also answer your questions about how to safely enjoy your time on a river, lake or any big body of water. With more than 3,700 named streams, 15 major rivers and some 3,300 miles of tidal shoreline along the Gulf Coast, not to mention lakes large and small, Texas offers almost unlimited possibilities for adventures on the water. Texas State Parks have many options for water activities including 78 Texas Paddling Trails that provide well-mapped accessible day trips for all levels of paddling experience.
Kimberly Sorenson joined the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as the Boater Education Manager in January 2021. She brings a wealth of knowledge on water, paddle sports and boating safety to her new role. She's an American Canoe Association certified instructor trainer for SUP and Kayaking, an American Red Cross Lifeguard instructor, and an avid boater. Over the last twelve years, she has worked with local non-profits and paddle sport educators to ensure proper skills and safety on and around the water.
This summer Kimberly encourages all boaters to “Rock Your Boat” by wearing a life jacket, avoiding alcohol, and watching your children. And if you haven't done so already, take a boater education course and learn to swim! There will be a question and answer session where you can ask for Kimberly's recommendations for the best water sites in the parks, her favorite paddling trails and any questions you might have about water safety.
The grand prize for the webinar is an awesome YETI Panga Submersible Backpack 28L and a Whole Earth branded YETI Rambler 26oz bottle. The Panga is 100% waterproof and ready for life on the water fishing, canoeing or kayaking. Built YETI tough, it's ready for roaring rapids, torrential downpours or rocky terrain.
The Runner Up Prize Pack includes Nite Ize RunOff Large packing cube, Write in the Rain Journal, Sea to Summit Stretch-LOC straps, Kool Tie neck bandana, and a Whole Earth branded YETI Rambler 26oz bottle.
We hope you'll join us on Tuesday, July 27th at 6 pm for our A Day on the Water Webinar.
