A Cooking Demo with TNF Athlete Stephanie Howe
Nutrition plays important role in any athlete's training regimen, but when you're an ultrarunner, nourishment takes on a whole new level of significance. Stephanie Howe knows what to do. Combining the knowledge she gained earning a PhD in Nutrition and Exercise Science with her love of real food, she's mastered ultrarunner nutrition and has won and placed in 100K and 50K races.
Stephanie Howe, a The North Face athlete, will be joining us for an online cooking demo on Thursday, November 18th from 6 to 7pm CST. She'll be showing us how to prepare a delicious and nutritious meal that could also be used for camp cooking. Along the way, she'll share tips for healthy eating both for daily meals and for training and post-race recuperation. You can register for the event here.
Howe discovered her trail running potential at Montana State University where she was a collegiate All-American Nordic skier and a cross country runner. She went on to earn a master's degree in Exercise Physiology and a doctorate in Nutrition and Exercise. She's run in iconic ultraraces including Ultra Trail de Mont Blanc, Ultra-Trail Cape Town 100k, and assorted Western States 100s. And she set the Women's course record for the Bandera 100K that's run at The Hill Country State Natural Area, notorious for steep rocky hills and plants that bite.
These days Stephanie spends most of her time outdoors, preferably in the mountains with her dog Søren and her son Julien, who was born in December 2020. Together they visit trails, peaks and beaches near their home in the San Francisco Bay area. Howe has also put her knowledge and experience in ultrarunning to work. She knows the how and why of movement, physiology, exercise psychology and nutrition and is sharing it with others as a consultant.
We hope you'll join us online Thursday, November 18th at 6pm CST for a cooking demo with Stephanie Howe. She'll help us learn to cook and eat with health and performance in mind.
