NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY WORK PROJECTS

Saturday, September 26th was National Public Lands Day all over America. The public was invited to visit any National Park that day for free. Many parks at every level from local, neighborhood parks to state parks to the national parks had work projects. Whole Earth in conjunction with Merrell Footwear participated in four of these.

In Dallas we cleaned up debris at White Rock Lake. In San Antonio we joined with a work day at the San Antonio Missions Trail. In Austin we picked up lots of trash at McKinney Falls State Park. And in Houston we participated in several projects in Memorial Park. The photos are starting to roll in of those events -  and of the reception afterwards at a nearby Whole Earth store in which refreshments were enjoyed by the  volunteers and a preview of the Ken Burns PBS series (The National Parks: America’s Best Idea) was shown.

We extend a hearty thanks to anyone and everyone who volunteered that day! You did something very special. Below are photos recording the projects that Whole Earth was involved in.
