Friends of Enchanted Rock urgently needs help from all of us. Please pitch in if you can.
The call went out recently from the Friends of Enchanted Rock that urges all of us to pitch in monetarily, as we can, to finish a project soon to be underway at the Park. Texas Parks and Wildlife has begun construction preparations but has run out of funding for a new interpretive signage project at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. An interpretive kiosk will be constructed in the gazebo area at the start of the Summit Trail and some directional signs are planned throughout the Park. These are very desirable amenities for Park visitors.
Enchanted Rock is more than merely a large and exposed hunk of granite that connects beneath the Earth’ssurface to the much, much larger Enchanted Rock Batholith. It is a natural treasure that truly refreshes and recreates the human spirit of all who come upon it. Visitors from far and wide have enjoyed this area – be it for rock climbing or bird watching, hiking or camping – it’s a beautiful spot that deserves our support.
Whole Earth is collecting funds for the signage project statewide in all seven of our stores and we invite you to donate when you come by any one of them. But we encourage you to go on line to the Friends website to make your donation right away. The Friends group has committed to raising $20,000 to complete the project and their deadline is July 31st! Please make a contribution.
